I know its been a while... i'v been very negligent of my blog, its become basically a second page to look at all my sets from poly...oopss.. anddd i just realized that a lot of the sets that I had made especially for my blog, on poly, then delete it on poly, so its only on my blog, no longer show up here once i delete it from their site. :(
Sooo i created a second account that I can use for my blog posts ( like trends, splurge & steal, etc.) yayyyy, I knoww that just made your monday. Unfortunately, if your window is also displaying a cold dreary rainy day out there like mine is, then its probably gonna take more than that to make your day, but its a start right?
and then there's the fact that this may be our last week on earth ( and im spending it at work! not far! they should let us have it off...just in case the world in fact does end)
well at least I don't have to worry about leaving money behind, because im pretty sure after christmas shopping this week, and treating myself to holiday stress dinners, coffees and drinks my bank account will be dry by friday.
Alright so in other news I re started my etsy shop, you can view it here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/RightBrainChronicals
I'm working on a new name for it, and the contents in general.
I've been working hard on my craft projects lately ( trying to accomplish at least one hour of crafting a day) that makes it sound like a chore, which its not, I do like crafting, its just in comparison to my bed, sometimes when i get home from work its hard to motivate myself to whip out the glue and paint brushes instead of climbing in my cozy bed for the night. But once I get going its fine.
ok so after for paragraphs of me blabbing, here's what I really wanted to post about. I finally finished one of the craft projects that was on the 2012, well actually a couple ( hence the etsy shop) I'm sure you don't remember my previous post
(see: http://rightbrainchronicals.blogspot.com/2012/03/pinterest-craft-time-installment-4.html)
about making stuff with fused plastic bags. Ive really been trying to think of art projects I can do with plastic bags, since i have sooo freakin many. I don't quite remember what started this one, I think I saw a picture of Marilyn Monroe on pinterest and since i had the yellow bag that it would be cool to do something with that. But like most projects I started, then abandoned it 3/4 of the way through. So this past week i decided that I NEEDED to finish it, except I couldnt find the original picture. meh. So I went to the classic Andy Warhol pop art photo of marilyn
In retrospect I probably should have done the face first then the hair around that, but I had my yellow forever 21 bag pressed and fused and ready first, and the hair is a lot easier than the face. So I did her hair and cut it out.
Now time for the hard part... the face...
being that it was a friday night, and I decided to stay in and craft, I my craft station became my bed and the ironing board. I was using the image on my computer as reference, another issue. So I should have sketched it first, but its hard to sketch on the plastic without ripping it, even when its fused, because for the face I was using stop & shop bags which are a lot thinner than the f21 bag, and I had even fused 2 together, so it was 8 ply. So anyways, i painted the nose and eyes, and the mouth i had painted on plastic and cut out previously so i put it on, but for some reason something was off. I new it was the proportions of the face and the lips, it looked close, but as my friend pointed out looked more like rihanna after she got beat up by chris brown. So yesterday, still determined to finish this project, I turned the face over, and voila, a clean canvas, a plus of a plastic canvas, is it doesnt leak through. But I had originally used the other side because it had less stop and shop symbols on it. On this side they were smack in the middle of the face, it may have looked cool if I left them but, i decided, that another issue of the first trial was that even though the stop and shop brown was close, I needed to paint her skin color. So I painted over the stop and shop logos. This time, i had printed out the image at work so I could use it as a reference to proportion her face.
soooooooo much better. I re did the mouth as well, and was very happy with the outcome of this one.
One minor mishap, this morning, I was glueing the hair to the face, which is a little harder than expected and the wet glue smeared her eyebrow. huff. so i will have to fix that tonight. I'm also thinking of cutting the face out and glueing the whole thing on a bigger piece of fused plastic thats painted pink like above.
Here
marilyn trial one... almost but not quite..
marilyn take 2...
and the final product. yayyy so much better
so like i said i plan on changing the background color and framing it, and then it will soon be for sale on my etsy shop!
Happy last week before the world ends!
