it feels like college again

it feels like college again

...and no not because I'm going out and drinking every night of the week...cus im not and i didnt even then, though I do try and go out as much as possible in the summer because, i hate the cold and the winter, and i think my lungs are still recovering from 2 winters ago when I/ we all went out, denying and ignoring the monsterous snowbanks that claimed the sidewalks, we chugged some liquid courage/ or liquid temperature boosters and threw on our mini skirts and ran out in the negative degrees determined to find a good time, and then drowned our sorrows in late night chinese, 24hr mcdonalds, and buffalo chicken pizza, fattening us up so our bodies could withstand another week of that horrid winter. Needless to say, my liver, lungs, and especially waistline can no longer take that, so I go out now, the season of sandals and sundresses, salads, and sangria.

But obviously my body and my wallet needs to take a break every once in a while, and because I'm still one of those adults who have to work Saturdays, have I mentioned how much at DETEST working Saturdays, dread dread dread, hate hate hate, ugh
hopefully that light at the end of the tunnel will soon approach and I will get a job that allows me to have weekends off, I would like to note that since I got my working permit at age 14 I have never had a job that has allowed me to do so, so lets hope that that day is fast approaching.

ANYWAYS wow sorry I've digressed alot here, back to the main topic, it feels like college, because I'm spending all my spare moments designing, even on the bus im scribbling on scraps of paper, I that feeling of inspiration. These past few years after college, have been a bumpy road, a road where I sometimes got/get very angry at that creative side of my brain, why couldnt I have had a more logical mind and had a more substantial job like accounting, but no I like to paint and be crafty, and that has left me poor and doing jobs that aren't necessarily my favorite.

So that is why I really do love these design competitions that onejackson puts out, it really forces me to keep thinking creativeley and remember and sharpen my tools I learned in school. The most recent design contest is to design for
Red Tricycle

a family and parenting newsletter,
this one was hard for  me at first, it seems broad yet specific, and lets face it, although i lovee designing kids clothes, my one disadvantage is that I don't have kids( sorry to say that I plan on not having any for quite a while) i dont have younger siblings either, thankfully i do have a handfull of younger cousins, and the fact that i was a kid once haha, so I came out with some cute tees that i really love, they aren't the most original, but I think they're fun and adorable and most importantly would dress my kids in any of them, but we'll see what everyone else thinks. I let you know when they're up for voting!

Currently running are the boys resortwear tanks and short sleeve tops collection. This one is a tough one, there are SO many cute ones! But I'm so greatful that i've done well already in previous collections. Although I do loveee my pieces, there are so really cute ones on there
check them out and vote for your favs!
all of my designs up so far can be seen here:

let me know what you think!

yawn* i need to rest my little brain, and rejuvinate those creative juices!

gnight!
