Chair Makeover!

this was supposed to be my big project last month... but obviously got a little delayed

so I  have been wanting to re-upholster this chair for a while. It was from my families old dining room set, they're at least 20 years old. The table and most of the chairs were tossed but I saved a few, because besides the paint job and the fabric discoloration the chairs were still in pretty good shape.
Initially I wanted to paint it yellow to with my room. I've always wanted a fun colored chair but, my yellow spray paint is still amongst the missing! boo, thought i found it, got so excited, test sprayed and it was the white spray paint with the yellow cap, so who knows where the yellow spray paint with the white cap is. It was fairly nice out, though a litter windier than I would have liked, I grabbed my tarp and brought my chair outside to the backyard and gave it a good spray down.
It looked to new and clean! although the white isn't as lively as the yellow, I figured it would match more if I decided to re-fabric it again to go with something else. So to go with my room I chose the blue and white striped fabric.

Then I threw together some little throw pillows--a yellow one of course, to brighten it up... and ta da! yayy new chair!

painting at work

so if you have read any of my previous posts you know that I've been having alot of creativity block lately. I've just felt so uninspired, but thanks to my new found love of pinterest I've been able to find new sources of inspiration. So today was another one of those annoying work days, and it was monday, and I was suffering from a sugar crash from the pre-easter feast party we had last night that involved lots of sugary candies and treats. So I kinda just turned my mind on auto-pilot today. I told myself I'm not allowed to spend anymore money on snacks or coffee, my trips to cvs and starbucks have become to frequent lately so I've been trying to cut back, but c'mon today was monday, and I was suffering, and I went out to run an errand on my break and was pelted by frigid gusts of wind, april 2nd? nope felt like november out there, and cold dreary weather makes me sad, I just want the sun and warmth and not to have to wear my pea coat anymore. So on my way back to work I'd like to think the gravitational pull of the universe floated me into Breuggers. When stupid tired me still in my sugar coma forgot that I hadn't activated my new debit card which expired yesterday tried to buy a coffee...probably the universe's way of telling me to man up and stop using caffeine as a crutch to get through my day, but then I think the universe felt bad for my pathetic state and the guy gave it to me for free..(or maybe because I took the time to straighten my hair this morning). So free coffee always perks me up (literally and figuratively) when I'm having a bad day. So I got a decent amount done..for a monday.. started watching my shows on hulu but by that point my day was almost over so I didnt want to get into a show at that point so of course I did what I always do lately popped on over to my pinterest page to do a little pinning, when I saw a lovelyyy illustration
Alot better than mine I know. but a. I did mine in about 10 minutes at my desk at work b. I had my water colored pencils but no paintbrush so I used a q-tip and my fingers. c. the image quality of mine is horrible because I'm using my cell phone still, so mine does look better in real life I swear, I also only had my 5" x 7" notebook paper with me. But I really love the image above, I love illustrations done in water color. Anyways to some up this story this is what inspired my little illustration at the top, which I was kind of proud of considering my like of tools and time, space and especially the fact that I was still suffering from a sugar hangover. My lips came out pretty good, and the eyes look better in person not pictured.

Happy April!
