Pinterest Craft time! 2nd installment!

Redecorating my home and life one pin at a time!

This is my second installment of pinterest craft time. This one is fairly simple, I did it after I had just been on a long drive and I had drank one of those starbucks double shots of espresso, which had yet to wear off and it was around 11 pm, so what better than to put that energy to use with some simple pinterest crafting. Thankfully I had made a trip to christmas tree shop earlier and loaded up on some random dollar decorating knick knacks i.e. varied assortments of colors and sized tea lights.

This one I apparently was so excited about making it that I forgot to pin it, but simply another candle craft. Put the candle in with coffee beans and the  candle with warm the beans giving off a lovely coffee scent. So I obviously love the smell of brewing coffee, so this craft is a must. Plus our table was in dire need of a new centerpiece. I had originally bought a bowl for this but then I remembered I had this skinny long tray I had bought for another abandoned craft project.

step one: pour in your beans
step two: nestle in your candles
and you're done!! let the ambiance begin

I was really excited about my turquoise colored tea lights until I realized they were scented, a sort of soapy oceany scent that I didnt think would mesh well with the smell of coffee, but they looked so pretty, that I lit them anyways in hope that the smell from the candles would not be too pungent or maybe it would be like drinking a cup off coffee on the beach, the beach and coffee are two of my most favorite things so I could be creating a great scent sensation.

So the third picture was actually the first I took, with my retrocam app, there was actually something on the lens of my camera phone, making it look blurry but i thought it came out kind of cool

anyways, this one is simple but looks so sophisticated!
thanks pinterest for another great craft session!

Pinterest Craft time! Redecorating my home and life one pin at a time!

wowww monday is really kickin my butt today, not sure what the deal is but its 1:00 and it still feels like someone is sitting on my eyelids, I even broke down and went and bought a coffee( ive been trying to be frugal and not spend so much on coffee) and was so out of it I left starbucks came back to work when I realized i never added any cream or sugar..blek..thankfully i had some spare sugar packets lying around.

so of course my mind isnt awake enough to real work at work yet so instead I remembered that I had taken some pictures of my craft time last week that I never uploaded.

***digression: so ive been ona polyvore hiatus lately, not sure why, just like I said in my previous post,  creativity block,  but thanks to my latest obsession, pinterest, ive been able to spark some creativity fuses in my brain. I have a whole board, like many others do, dedicated to crafts I want to make, so this will be the first of many insallments of:

PINTEREST CRAFT TIMEEEE! yayyyyy

so this was from the original pin:http://media-cdn.pinterest.com/upload/282530576592856960_TFQg9iJ1.jpg which was only a picture so of course being already committed to this craft I googled apartment therapy clementine candle
so here's the link on how to do it:how to make a clementine candle
so I saw the pin first and didn't read it and bought oranges, but then realized it was clementines, so I went out and bought a basket of them.
craftime and snacktime all in one, what more could I ask for
so here are some tips from my trials and tribulations with this:
make sure to leave that little white tip of the skin on the fruit attached to the skin, because thats going to be the wick so when you start to peel it just make sure it doesnt come out with the fruit and you're good.
The first one I tried I messed up on the wick, the second one ripped a little so it set it inside the first one and it worked fine, but then I realized a little while later that I wasnt getting the whole affect because the olive oil makes it transparent and like a mini luminescent pumpkin so I took it out of the bottom shell, and voila! glowing clementine candle.
I didnt smell as citrus-y as I had hoped but, still very pretty, would be very cool for a wedding or party, could be summery or fall looking.

so here are pictures from my first pinterest craft project (still using my cellphone to take pics, so sorry about the quality)

The next time I have a dinner party maybe I'll decorate with a few of these.

The other great thing about pinterest is that I've been finding all these really cool blogs and websites that I would have probably never found otherwise.
the negative side of pinterest, the food section, it makes me want to make buttery cheesy concoctions and cakes simultaneously, so ive been trying to not look at that category lately and stick with the fitness and crafts categories.
It also makes me want to take out a loan so I can redecorate my home and then take a year off from work so I can make all the crafts

creativity block

Sorry I havent posted in while! I've been having a bit of creativity block.
I managed to bring some of my painting stuff to work the other day (hehe) and hid it under my desk, my supplies including my sketchbook, watercolor pencils (2 mediums in one) charcoal and some neutral color pastels. So today I finally got around to using them. I had seen a post on pinterest of an illustration and I really liked it so it kind of inspired the one below. I had a little bit of an issue with the legs as you can see, but then I started adding a background so this is actually not the  finished product, but some customers came in so I was forced to stop painting at my desk haha. Im actually quite proud of the positioning of her upper body, the lower half is a work in progress.
