Throw pillows!

So the couch in my apartment, in means to save money, was retched out of my families basment after oh lets say 8 years maybe 10. Previous to its dust collecting years in my basement(it was covered in plastic thankfully) it resided upstairs in my family room, these were the years when i liked to color, sometimes on the couch, and then we got my dog, and she was like a friendly tazmanian devil during her puppy years so she did quite a bit of work on the couch. So needles to say its a little dingy, a little stained and a little ripper, but despite that, has held up pretty well and I think it works just fine in our apt. I had intended on getting a slip cover but the couch is an oddly shaped sectional so those slip covers are somewhat pricey. So tis lead to me deciding to make throw pillows to distract from the dinge. Sadly the print on the couch is an odd 90's print of grey, beiges, browns, and whites that are now tan. So throw pillow fabric was kind of tough. Our other futon somewhat next to it is black with white and black printed pillows and leopard pillows, there's somewhat of an animal print theme in the apt. I had originally thought about this brown grey and dusty blue animal print but then when thrown against the couch it was a no go, so thankfully I found some grey cotton fabric that I believe I got at Lorrians discount loft in providence for 1.99 a yard( I'm a fabric hoarder to say the least), orginally intended for a menswear outfit I was making a few years ago but I dont think it ended up making the cut. The white shear printed fabric, i believe is a burn out. They were curtains I had gotten at ikea a few years back for my dorm room. It looked really cool when started pleating it so then my first pillow was born and I really do love it. Unfortuneatly I had found old throw pillows in my basement at home and had planned on stuffing them with that but the stuffing was weird and old so hence the tad bit of lumpyness on the pillows. The second pillow I wasn't sure what to do i wanted a pleated circle but that didnt really work out so then I just started messing around with it. I sewed it to a great circle then decided since i love a grey and yellow combo to zig-zag stitch around the edge a few times then i decided to zig zag over some of the lines in the print. I placed it on the pillow and it still kind of needed something, I didnt have any white ribbon or bias tape to sew around the edge but the curtains did have a white finished edge so I cut that off and sewed it on. I was originally going to sew it down flat but I kind of liked the 3 dimmensional effect, it kind of resembles a mod planet earth but I still like it. So those were my two craft projects last night, i do want to make at least four more though, not sure if I have enough grey fabric but I do have many sets of black curtains so I could use. So sadly I only took pictures with my phone, which the macro sucks on so they look kind of blury.
