ooh baby its rainin

the best part about thanksgiving

for me the best part about thanksgiving is the day after, when i get to make leftover thanksgiving sandwiches, nothing fancy i like it classic, white bread, because weirdly i like when it gets all soggy from my classic gel cranberry sauce, stovetop stuffing, turkey and a little mayo, and i make it the night before so it has time to mush all together. by lunch time today ill have a big perfect mess to eat

>>>sidenote, i may not be able to post all weekend, because Ill be in Nh for the 17th annual woodwards trip, and since I current;y am without a laptop, internet using may be minimal

happy black friday to you crazy ppl who are venturing out there to shop (last yr I worked black friday so i have no desire to ever shop it)

what im grateful for this holiday season

I'm starting an on-going post of things that I'm grateful for this holiday seasons, things that may go un-noticed sometimes, but without them my life would probably be miserable, feel free to comment things of your own
(they're in no order of importance)

1. spell check- you're little red zig zag underlines make me realize that my education is never done.

2. google maps- i would probably be dead by now without you

3. seat heaters, I don't know how i lived the first 21 years of my life without you

4. flannel sheets- because you're the definition of cozy

5. gingerbread lattés. so delicious and cheerful that I don't even care about the calories that you behold in your frothy goodness

I made a new friend this weekend

no, this is not a stuffed animal, or a photoshopped image
but it is a cardboard cutout of a pig, that is somewhat creepy
but because of him, who's name is winston, i now know that pigs have 44 teeth
and that everyone should hang cardboard cut outs of pigs in their window for the christmas season, or if you don't know what sort of gift you should get for someone...this is an awesome idea.
i would love to make a video of winston and marcel

Midnight Masquerade....madness

Midnight Masquerade
Midnight Masquerade by lysscious21 featuring sleeveless dresses

ok so im pissed , and probaly too tired to be doing this, so this is the first set i tried to make on this site, the parts to the left as I was making it looked much larger and i thought wear taking up half the screen the stuff to the right I didnt even know were there, I dragged them to where I thought was off the page and removing them until I published my "masterpiece" and was left with this ughhh frustration and i've been staring at a computer screen too long so I'll go at it again in the a.m.

I whip my pearls back and forth

Now normally, I'm not one to wear pearls, as classic and iconic as they are, I sort of had a falling out with pearls after high school, I wanted to rid my self of everything preppy in my life, this is what 22 yrs of living on cape cod did to me, and pearls can be worn in many ways that aren't preppy, but I just didn't want any part of that pearl wearing, khaki's, popped collar, lily Pulitzer wearing, cable knit sweater thrown over your shoulders lifestyle, because its not a stereotype sometimes I believe that people down here think that's the only existing style, including the visitors, I have since tried to come to terms with this over the past summer, I wear my polo shirt sometimes with my khaki shorts, and this fall i whipped out my cable knit sweater(not thrown around my shoulders, not ready for that yet)
wow sorry for the major digression there, because this bag is more classic pearls than preppy pearls, and I think the fact that they're on tassles are so fun, and I really wish I had an occasion to use a fun bag like this, i recently even started making a dress that I hand beaded some pearls so go figure... so I'm definitely pro-pearl now, i mean it is one of my birthstones so I couldn't reject it forever.

Morning Sunshine

thanksgiving menu..we'll see

thanks to foodnetwork.com I've decided on some recipes for thanksgiving this year, because mom's working and me and dad are cooking, and since its just us, thought I'de try some new stuff, usually we have a pretty traditional Italian thanksgiving, mom's Italian wedding soup, antipasto, home-made sausage stuffing, mashed potato's, butternut squash, and alot more home-made traditionals which I love, but since there's only 4 of us this year, and I'm going to be home to make all of this and we can't eat till at list 4 on Thanksgiving day so I'm going to need something to occupy my time, and I wanted to try some new stuff, better to try it out on a small audience first

White Hinterland - Icarus

love this song, not sure why, maybe it's the ice skater in me, I can totally see myself twirling around on the ice to this song.. doesn't it seem like a skirt twirling or hair flipping type of song? hah and for some reason everytime I hear it on the just bitten commercial it gets stuck in my head, and I love that gretchen used it for her line on project runway

late night internet browsing

so I'm trying to diffuse my urge to reach in my freezer and grab that delicious carton of pumpkin ice cream, hence the projects and internet surfing(at the same time I'm trying to distract myself from eating it I'm also thinking of excuses that validate me being able to eat it)
anyways so I'm browsing polyvore and I came across this image
Bush Antiques - 19th Century Italian Bed,
first glance, i love it, so endearing, then I'm picturing it in my bedroom...no...no way would I ever want to sleep on something that looks that rustic, on one frightening hand I can picture an exorcism being performed on it, I blame that image on the bedding, but I just love the headboards, Wouldn't they make a cute gate.. to a garden or something
... very secret garden-esque
I also feel like I could do something of this sorts on the headboard of my bed

This is what happens when I have too much time on my hands

So like I am with my hair color, I also tend to have project ADD, I'll start one project get bored half way through or see something else I really want to do, start that and then never get back to the other one, this problem is also hindered once I enter the craft store because I see all of these project Ideas and I want to start them all immediately..all of them, so obviously this is what happened to me today, I'm stuck at home, none of my friends are around so on my days off I need to find stuff to occupy my time besides snacking my way through bordem, so why not work on stuff to boost up my portfollio, so I bought these cute little canvas's today, well they were on sale, and once again that miniature thing, I just think they're so cute, so now the hard part what do I 1. want to put on these cute little canvas's

ideas.??

something scenic?

multi-media?

ugh i dont knoww... I think I'm just gonna put them on my wall blank, and who know's maybe I'll dream up something to put on them

anyone have any input?

new project

Sooo i absolutely lovee the techniques in this book, sooo my goal is to practice doing some of these techniques and then work it into a garment.
First up, pattern shirring- 3 different patterns: chevron, wave, sawtooth.. ill post my samples, once they're finished

My fav

found some stragglers..

Walking out in the driveway and these guyscaught my eye, because everything else looks dead and the colors are so muted and soft, I loved how the these red leaves splice through the landscape kind of like the sky's lipstick right? it definitlyneeded a pop a color, because lately its looked so drab and gloomy outside. Then when I was uploading them I noticed that they would make a cool background for a moodboard, especially for the black and white dove dress

so anyways enjoy looking at natures last few stragglers of leaves... that aren't completly dead..and brown

In loving memory..

( pastel/charcoal drawing i did of my dog last week)
Its weird the things that make me think of her, like this morning when I was slicing a banana, I used to always give her the end of the banana, so I dont have to throw it away and waste it of course, but now I have no one to give it to. I did that drawing of her last week, when she was still here I had wanted to do a photoshoot of her so I could do a series on her, but I never got to. I saw these amazing paintings of a golden retriever that was all black and white except for the green tennis ball. Originally I had wanted to do something like that but somehow I swapped out the charcoal for the beige pastel, which i was glad I did, because she was not a black and white kind of dog. I do hope to dig out some more pictures of her and do a series of her soon. Such a good dog deserves to be remembered. never forgotten

not quite what I was hoping for..

So I saw these cute dove ornaments the other day and I thought it would make a pretty dress design to have the silhouette of a tree going up the side of the tree but skinny, kind of like in an ink drawing, and then have the doves hanging from the branches, painted on the fabric then towards the skirt of the dress have them appliqued on. I pictured it done on a white dress, with the branch and doves outlined in black with red accents, i tried to draw a quick sketch of it, but it was too hard because i couldn't find my micropen or skinny tipped paintbrush . But i pictured the dress in cotton, and to paint that fabric and maybe with a chiffon overlay to give it that eferial look, anyways so I didnt really succeed with it tonight, but since I've been staring at computer screen all day I'm gonna give it a rest until tomorrow, hopefully with the correct devices :)

MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON

Recently, over the past weekend this little gem of a video was brought to my attention, im obessesed. the cuteness is overwhelming.another video I'll be quoting for months, yes.

Lastly,

its getting pretty full,
just cleaned out my purse today, which usually has at least $5 in change hidining in the black hole at the bottom.
maybe by 2032 I'll have enough change...to make it halfway there

lunch time :)

What's better than pizza bagels? mini margarita pizza's! amazing. but anything with tomato's and buffalo mozzarella I'm prettymuch in love with, as well as anything miniature, so this is the perfect package

well as most sewers can attest to , I tend to have sewing needles and pins pretty much everywhere, half the time I don't even know how they get where they do, not safe I know, especially since when I do need one I can never find one, and then I go to get into bed and i see a sewing needle lying next to my pillow....
so this lovely sewing needle I found all by its lonesome on the coffee table, figured I'de be less likely to lose it this way

yes, im 22 yrs old, this is my version of having a "blankey" and hey he goes along with the vintag-y theme of the items I was photographing
